Talking with arborists and people producing tree reports made one thing clear: a lot of time was being spent moving the same information between field notes, photos, spreadsheets, mapping tools and report templates.
The question became simple: could the whole process work better?
Moonah was built from there. Those conversations — about where time is lost, where information is duplicated, and what could be made simpler — helped shape a simpler workflow for moving from field assessment to professional report.
The aim isn't to replace professional judgement. It's to give tree professionals better tools around it, reducing repetitive admin and making it easier to turn good fieldwork into a professional report. Moonah will continue to be shaped by the people using it.
Built in Australia for Australian tree reporting. Designed around Australian arboricultural reporting requirements, including AS 4970:2025 (Protection of Trees on Development Sites) and AS 4373-2007 (Pruning of Amenity Trees). Enter a DSH and the NRZ is calculated immediately; add a trunk diameter and the SRZ follows; the TPZ is yours to record and adjust.
Field notes. Photos. Tree schedules. TPZ and SRZ calculations. Mapping. Report templates. Producing a tree report can mean handling the same information several times before the report reaches the client.
Moonah is designed to bring that workflow together. Capture the information once, then carry it through to the finished report.
Whether you're an independent consulting arborist or part of a larger arboricultural practice, Moonah is designed to reduce the double-handling between fieldwork and the finished report.

Inspired by the iconic Moonah tree (Melaleuca lanceolata) that has shaped Australia's southern coastline for centuries, the platform reflects the same values: resilience, simplicity and a strong connection to place.
Gnarled and salt-hardened, it's stood in the wind along these shores longer than the towns around it. It's local, it's tough, it endures, and it stays put. The right name for a tool that does the same.
Removing a mature tree isn't just a landscape decision. It releases decades of stored carbon, eliminates annual CO₂ sequestration, reduces stormwater interception and diminishes urban biodiversity. Moonah puts these ecosystem services in front of practitioners and their clients at every decision point — not as a compliance footnote, but as genuine decision support.
A note on precision. Ecosystem service figures in Moonah are indicative estimates derived from published urban forest allometric models, not precise measurements. Actual values vary with species, growth rate, health, local rainfall and management history. They are provided as decision-support context — to prompt better conversations between practitioners and clients about what tree canopy does and what its removal costs. Where precise quantification is required, independent ecological assessment remains necessary.
